Tips and Tricks: Ring Clamps & Bezel Cups
Here’s a neat little trick for using a ring clamp to hold bezel cups that need to be filled and sanded.
Cut a slice of wood that fits inside your bezel cup,
but that's a little taller than the bezel wall.
This will allow you to safely tap the ring clamp closed
without damaging the walls of your bezel!
You could also stack coins inside a smaller bezel
or punch tiny copper discs to fit inside tiny bezels.
You may have noticed that I've made modifications to my ring clamp.
In the image above you'll find a thin channel has been cut along
the center top of the clamp. This allows me to hold a ring band securely in place
when I need to cut through the join to achieve a closer seam to solder...
I've also cut a wedge out of each side of my clamp
which allows me to lean into the sides or center of my bench pin.
No "air filing" allowed, lol!
